Hi! Let me start this by saying that my son is far from perfect and I know lots of his shortcomings. He is also in a lower set for spelling, which I agree is the best place for him. But his favourite subject has always been maths, his reports have placed him as 'above expected' and in parent/teacher meetings we've been told he's top of the year. He's now in year 3 and they had a test on day 1 which las landed him in the bottom set with many of the kids that struggle at school. He said it's because he was bored and distracted in the test. (Which is bloody infuriating if true). I'm really worried that this his going to dampen his enthusiasm for maths and he'll definitely drop behind the pack if he's in a group going at a slower pace and going back over work that he had found really easy. Am I overreacting? Is there a chance he'll catch up again?
