Kids came home with letters today saing that the TA's are striking on 23rd, but that school will be open, but then on 24th they have about 8 teachers that will be striking and so children in those classes won't be able to go in.

Out of my 3 children, 2 will be in and one won't.

Teachers are in different unions and it is only the NUT striking teachers in other unions will be working normally so many schools will be the same.

yes, DD1 goin in, DD2 staying at home.

CrackerOfNuts · 15/04/2008 16:23

Oh I see.

Well Dd2 is pleased anyway.

I however am slightly dreading the fact that I may suddenly become top choice of babysitter for certain other kids that will be off.

Yes, only NUT are striking and other unions have been advised not to cover. Let's hope the government coughs up a decent pay rise as soon as possible.

Same at my dcs school. Only about 20% of the teachers are NUT, but, sod's law, DD's teacher is one of them. So they are just going to "close down" the classes taught by those teachers. All the other children can go to school as normal. Am not happy.

Dd's school is shut on the 24th. Haven't heard yet about ds's school.

CrackerOfNuts · 15/04/2008 16:53

I might take Dd2 out for the day. Don't often get to spend time with any of my dc on a one to one basis, so it will be nice.

Plus, it will stop me being used as everyone elses childcare

In DD's infant department only 2 teachers out of the 6 are in that day. DD is thrilled at the prospect of a relatively empty playground. Apparently more than half her class aren't going in because they have siblings in the attached Juniors whose teachers are stricking. Rather than have one at home and one in school they are all having a day off.

CrackerOfNuts · 15/04/2008 16:58

Hmm, I did consider that hockeypuck, but swiftly changed my mind again.

Personally I'm tempted to take DD out of school anyway if half the class are missing, so we can go to the swimming pool while it's relatively empty.

Having said that, if most schools are striking then it's probably going to be teeming!.

School it is!

Ds1's school is closed on the 24th

We'll go and do something more interesting instead!
