Sevenoaks best prep for girls

Hey everyone

We have two daughters, one who has started her journey at a pre prep and the other is a little younger so not there yet. The older goes to one of the co-ed pre preps in sevenoaks. She has done really well since starting there but we feel she may be better off somewhere else. We went to view Granville and came away really impressed.

Parents with children at Granville, how do you find the school? It has a good academic reputation which is very important to us but do you find they create rounded girls and provide a wide range of experiences? A lot of previous posts mention the "hot house" reputation but that seems to be from people who don't have children at the school.

How does it compare to Wally Hall, or the other co-ed prep schools?

We are not set on what path they will take for senior school but it's unlikely they will stay past 11. They may go to either a senior school or grammar depending on what suits them. However if the right environment for them is only held back by a lack of focus on 11+ prep, that is not something that would be a deal breaker as we can supplement outside of school.

Please share experiences of your children at the options in Sevenoaks. We are aware of the general reputation of the more popular schools but getting actual experiences would be incredibly useful

Thank you.

Not every school is for every child. However Granville I believe offers a very well rounded experience. Academically they tend be very strong cohorts - you can see the last few years results. But academically is not the only area of strength - it produces girls who as a result are well rounded and confident in themselves with being arrogant. Given the choice it’s not one I would hesitate about.

*without being arrogant!
