dd2 finding reading easy, dd1 struggles, how to help dd1 feel better about it?

i can see dd2 overtaking dd1 at some stage, as dd2 is zooming through her books, and yet dd1 is still struggling. dd1 has never found reading easy tbh, and is behind in most areas of learning. but is making good progress now.

yesterday dd1 was reading to me, and was stuck on a word and sounding it out. dd2 looked at it and said 'dangerous', dd1 said it wasnt right, i had to say it was right. felt bad for dd1, but proud of dd2 at the same time.

i am really strugglign with this. both get reading time with us, and dd1 likes to do extra sums as well, as she enjoys numeracy. but its the reading she struggles with.

what do i do?

Is there something that DD1 does better at - use that to bloster her confidence and to show how people are different and have different skills.
