Newton Prep - any current parents?

Hi!
We have decided to move our DD from her state school to Newton prep this September. She’ll be joining year 1 (after 2 years at her previous school in nursery and reception )

We’ve also enrolled our DS to start in the nursery in September also.

It’s a big change for us as her previous school is all she’s ever known and she’s made really close friends there since nursery. I therefore wanted to know if there are any parents with children in Newton prep especially going into year 1 on here :)

It would be great to connect ahead of her starting or just get a heads up of how best to navigate the school.

We unfortunately weren’t able to make the new parent session they had earlier this week so we’ll be going in completely blind in September :s

DD is pretty resilient and very outgoing but I suspect joining a new school where people have been friends already for up to two years could be a hard transition especially as she had no issues at all in her previous school.

Not a current parent, but when we were there you got a year group contact list which showed which families were in your post code. It's worth asking if you can have your daughter's Year 1 list (once they have mixed the Reception classes), and then you can set up some play dates over the summer.

It's a wonderful school!

Oh that sounds like it would be super helpful. I’ll definitely ask! We’re in Clapham so I’m hoping there will be a couple local people in her year. Fingers crossed. Also really handy to know that the reception classes will be mixed so hopefully there’s an opportunity for everyone to be a little bit ‘new’ to each other.
