Primary school in Solihull

Does anyone of you have experience of applying for a primary state school placement from overseas? We have zeroed in on Solihull as our preferred school district. But most of the primary schools are oversubscribed. What happens if we are not offered a place in our preferred school that we have listed in our application? Instead we are offered a school that has poor Ofsted rating?

Although our preferred place is Solihull, we are open to renting in Leamington or Earlsdon. Is it possible to apply in multiple school districts at once from overseas?
I look forward to your suggestions.

You are right that if a school has vacancies, it is often one that is not well regarded by other parents which can include a poor OFSTED.

Check your preferred Local Authority(s) for their rules on applying from abroad - some allow it , others don't. Will be on their website. If you can apply then they will expect an address/timing etc - best to contact them. They will also be able to tell you about current vacancies, though that can change quickly.

If there is a place then it can be allocated but the LA/school will expect the place to be taken up quickly. Check with the relevant LA but often 4 weeks.

It is difficult to get a place unless your plans are firm and you will be arriving in the area soon after. All families moving area in England face the same issues.

Good luck
