5c is above the expected level for an 11 year old. The expected level is a 4.

thanks. he's just done a 'mock' sats week and bought home his science one (presumably for revision) and he got that level. although i do think he's worrying far too much about them!

The school can put a lot of pressure on the children. It is a sad fact that a huge emphasis is put on how well a school does in sats tests so schools are under prssure to get the grades and inevitably this pressure gets passed on to the poor kids. Nothing wrong with tests imo but lots wrong with judging a school soley on sats results. Hope your son does not worry too much.

And certainly last year in the actual tests level 5 wasn't broken down into a b and c - it was just 5. And 5 is the highest you can get in year 6 SATS, so he is doing very well indeed.

that'll be a relief to him seeker. thankyou

He's doing well my love. My DS4 (10yrs) got level 5 for literacy and 4a in Maths when he was in year 5 - so this year there is extra pressure on him to do better. He is a nervous wreck.

His teacher reckons that because he is very bright and wants to do well he is one of the few in the class who could care less! He's also starting to be teased for being bright.

Has his teacher given him some web sites to look at? My DS's teacher gave them a list of fun revision sights that he is really enjoying - I could put some on here for you if you would like.

So much pressure on these little ones.
