Primary school in Chatham area around ME4

We are moving to Chatham from london this August and my daughter accepted a place for reception where we are currently live. We accepted the school. We will be in ME4 area and not sure which primary school to choose. I have been doing my research but anyone from the area could suggest that would be great. we don't mind travel up to 2 miles. Thanks for you help.

You may not get a huge choice in August for a Sept start as places have been assigned for Sept 2024 starters.

Your best bet is to contact KCC and find out which schools have spaces, and do your research from there. They also may not give you a place unless you have paperwork to prove your address.

You need to contact Medway Council rather than Kent, as Chatham falls under Medway. Locally we have a low birth rate and I believe 94% of children were offered their first choice this year, so you do stand a chance of getting something reasonably local. Have you got any specific ones in mind?

You will need to contact Medway when you have moved to check which schools still have capacity in Reception for September. If you can bring your move date forward to July you may find it slightly easier, others will be moving over the summer so those few weeks may make a difference.

They will be able to tell you which schools have spaces after may 14th when everyone has accepted (or not) their offers. I'd be tempted to ask the council for a list of schools with spaces in June before yojnmove, so at least you have an idea. For those schools with spaces, they can give you a place based on any address as long as there's no one competing with you for the space, and there is also space on the form to give a current and future address
