Hi,
I just moved and applied for a school place through in year application for my year one child and received decision today offering a school which is not in my 6 choices and is far from my current address. As I can’t drive and I need to manage to do pick up and drop off for my nursery child as well(they are in the same school at the moment ) . Does anyone has idea if I do speak is there chance to get place in one of my choices? Does any one has experience how long it takes to get place for in the in year application?
thanks

They will have offered you the nearest school with a space available unfortunately.

You may well be eligible for school transport OP.
I live rurally and all my children have gone to school on a minibus from Yr R - it’s great as they are collected from home!
I’m sorry you didn’t get one of your preferences but you may well get a place on a waiting list.

For a Year 1 child it's unlikely you'd win an appeal.

You can ask to go on waiting lists for your preferred choices, if they are held in your area. Whether you are likely to get a place depends mostly on mobility in the area - there might be some movement in the summer, for example.

Are there other schools that you would prefer over the offered one? Might be worth asking if they have places.
Otherwise, as PP says, if the school is far away, you should be offered school transport.

Thanks shepherdsangeldelight, I already have chosen school up to 2mils. I decided to stay in waiting list hopefully I could place for both in nearest school🤞🏻
