Aldro school - recent experiences?

We are moving to the area and considering Aldro for our DS - just wondering if there are any parents with recent experience of the school, including the application process? Very grateful for any insights!

My nephew is at Aldro and is very happy and thriving. DSis speaks very highly of the school. They were able to identify what makes DNeph tick and have encouraged and supported him accordingly. Parents are quite involved and DSis is always going to events, sports and social activities. DNeph has made lots of friends and has settled in very well. From what I gather, there is something for everyone, depending on interest - sport, music, lots of different clubs.

I think admissions process involved an assessment day with some classroom based tasks along with sport and music (I am a teacher so was quite curious).

Thanks @Oobunkah , that's very helpful. So far we have heard very good things about the school but useful to get a personal insight. We've had a school tour and were impressed - the children seem very happy and proud of their school.

Our DS is reasonably bright (or at least we think so) but probably not an academic superstar and we're not sure he'll be able to focus for a 3hr assessment at age 6, which is what some other schools seem to require - hence our questions about the assessment!

Assessment seemed to be a balanced mix of things so I reckon your DS will be alright. Good luck with whatever you decide. Maybe someone with more experience will come along and offer more insight x
