Anyone else feeling nervous about primary offer day? I am a little anxious for my 4 year old starting reception (hopefully at our first choice Harris Shortland's!) - Anyone else applied there for 1st choice? If 1st choice is offered, does anyone know any networking we can do before school starts to get our children acquainted with each other before Sept?

I am so fearful that she won't settle in well after spending 3 years at a nursery/preschool in Crystal Palace to now move to 'Big Girls school' where she knows no one. My daughter has big feelings we suspect ADHD hence why i am worried the first month is going to be so hard.

Not in that area, but have similar situation.DD was in an amazing preschool/nursery for 3 years before we moved 1.5 hours away and had to start a new preschool in October. Noone we know has applied for the same first choice (tiny catchment) so may have to start again!

One thing I will say is that most kids are astoundingly resilient. It surprised me massively how quick DD made new friends and started to get invited to parties in our new town.

My understanding is that the Harris schools are but Marmite- parents either love or hate their ethos, but the kids that are there seem to thrive. I'm sure your DD will do amazingly!

They all get there eventually. We just have to support them to do it :)

Thank you !! Yes I am sure she will. And yes I’ve also heard mixed opinions on Harris but it seems to be the best in the area and although how well a child does is ultimately up to them I had to of course choose a school that I think is the best.

Do you know why some might not like Harris? Are they too academic?

@Twistees1983 I think they may be quite strict on some things. All of the kids I know who have gone have thrived, so 🤷

We got Harris Shortlands place for our son. It was our first choice, so we are happy and anxious at the same time. The big era of happy nursery days is ending, but an even more exciting school era is beginning!

Yes we got in too!!
such mixed feelings! All I wish for is she settles well that’s all 😊

See you at drop off in Sept then @Yashiksan 😂

Hi there, I wondered if your little one ended up going to Harris Shortlands and if you could share any feedback about settling sessions they offered and how she’s got on in general? Hoping to hear we’ve got a place for this September 😊 thank you!
