Can someone sort an argument for me? When WILL my Little one start school!!!!

My boy was born 7 Feb 2005, (he is now 3) I have been told that he will start school the term before he is 5.

In Nottingham there are 2 intakes September and then in January.

One teacher has said he will start in Jan (4 weeks off his 5th birthday) and one has said oh no it will be the September before.

Im confused!!!!

Well, the term before he is 5 means he will start in September! My ds is a feb baby, started full time last September and coped brilliantly.

thats what I said! but the other teacher said that the January is a new term aswell and they do intakes then - if he did start then he would be 5, 4weeks after

In our local authority up to end of Feb is September start, March-August is January start.

Where we are in Lincs our school has three intakes a year and you can if you choose start the term after they are five so youy son could start in the summer term 09, or anytime from the Sept 09

My DD will be 4 in dec 08 and starts in Jan 09 which means she gets an extra 2 terms at school, to be honest she is ready now as goes in everyday with her brother so knows what to do.

I would just the school that you wish him to attend and ask them.

Here, he would start in the September. Those born Sep to end Feb start Sep, 1st Mar to end Aug start January.

I live in Nottingham too and he will start January. The schools in Nottingham take Sept-Dec birthdays in Sept intake and Jan to Aug birthdays in the Jan intake. My sons birthday is Jan 2nd and he started in the Jan intake on Jan 5th when he was 5. Hope this helps.

Our school has 2 intakes and if your child is a young 4 they can defer until January.
