We are soon to be relocating from London near to Henley and were wondering which are the best state/private schools in the area for our son who will start reception in 2025? Also thinking about pre schools for him. We will be living in Gallowstree Common so not too far from there. Any advice or recommendations?

Hi, i am just looking to do a similar move and wanted to ask how you have found it so far and which school you settled on?

@Flipflop356 @Melcl1987

Nearest 3 state schools are Sonning Common, Kidmore End and Peppard Common - all good local reputations and often over subscribed. Peppard is tiny with combined years taught together. You'll need to apply for an in-year admission as the standard closing date was back in January.

I might be a little out of date, but it's unlikely you would get a place in any of the Henley primarys as they, too are usually over subscribed - but they are all pretty good too.

private schools -
The Oratory Prep near Woodcote,
Moulesford, a little further out near Wallingford
Cranford - also towards Wallingford

All popular & fine - depends which secondary you have in mind as much as anything else.

Good luck
