Looking to move to the area, considering this school for DD for reception. Did a school visit, liked the headteacher, and the school looks decent enough. Interested to hear thoughts about the school - academically, but also in terms of pastoral care, any concerns around bullying, etc?

We have had 3 children there throughout the years. The school wants all children to achieve academically. Unfortunately they don’t have pastoral support for the children.

@kc0793 No primary schools have a member of staff for pastoral support. However all teachers should be aware of what a child needs to thrive and work with you over any concerns. At primary this will teachers be getting to know the individual child and the class teacher is best placed to do this as they see dc daily. Pastoral support isn’t a separate thing in a primary school but all staff are trained in making sure dc are enjoying school and are happy.

Bullying is dealt with according to their policy. It’s not necessarily possible to say no bullying occurs but it’s not evident very often in most primary schools. You would be unlucky to come across this even though the school is quite big. Most dc are decent nice young dc. It’s not something I’d particularly worry about in GX.
