Rosemead or Oakfield Prep

Hello!

My daughter has been offered a place at Rosemead prep to start in September. She will be 3 and will be joining the Nursery. I’m still torn between Oakfield and Rosemead. Educationally Rosemead seems better and I like the small classes. The only issue is the outdoor space which is really poor. Oakfield has a great outdoor but doesn’t feel very academic.

are there any mums with kids in either school that can advise?

Thanks

Leona

I live locally and what you've said is essentially the conclusion most people reach. The main drawback with Rosemead is the busy road and lack of outdoor space.

I'd actually recommend Herne Hill. They may still have space in the pre-reception for September. Very academic and lovely grounds and facilities but it only goes to 7+ which is the downside.

It really depends on what your long term educational plans are. There are lots of 4+ options as well as 7+ options like Sydenham Girls (where we have friends who are very happy), Streatham as well as Rosemead and Oakfied again at 7+. Of course there is also the foundation schools, JAGs / Alleyns. The 7+ isn't that bad if you are fairly relaxed and not focused on just the most academic schools as there are a lot of location options.
