Wanted: School backpack. A4. Oblong (ish). No big logos.

Can anyone help? DS1, Y4, and small takes a vast Umbro backpack to school every day in which he carries: a see-through zip-top 'book bag', a pencil case, a wallet and water bottle. One day a week he needs a music folder (as before) and his PE kit which he carries separately.

My problem is I am looking for a zip-around topped backpack that will accommodate the A4 folders without folding the corners (which smaller curved top backpacks tend to) plus any other A4 books or work he may have BUT the bag doesn't have to have the capacity for a full footy kit or whatever! Sadly the ideal bags I have seen were carried by the DCs of a friend but they're logo'ed with the name of the hyper expensive prep they go to... They were more or less oblong ie book shaped, and perhaps 3-4" thick.

Skoolkit doesn't seem to have them. And please don't suggest I ask my friend who manufactures theirs as schooling is the one issue on which we have to choose to differ (a LONG story!) and- well, it just isn't worth it!

Home Bargains have very cheap laptop bags at the moment, like a smarter version of primary school book bags - might be worth having a look at?

Would this work?

abigaillockhart · 24/03/2008 19:30

Does it have to be a backpack? here or is this too big here

JackieNo · 24/03/2008 19:30

Or more expensive?

JackieNo · 24/03/2008 19:33

Is this too bulky?

I'm liking the Targus range. They seen to have stuff for 15 ish pounds which is OK.

ckeck out tkmaxx, they usually have lots of different bags

And sadly we're in Southampton so Home Bargains are nowhere near us!
