Help with Personal Statement and Covering Letter

Being very cheeky now but am finding it really hard to not repeat myself in covering letter and then in personal statement. I had a load of letters etc on the computer and my usb crashed taking them with them. Does any kind soul have one they would mind letting me look at to get me started? I will be eternally grateful - its primary by the way!

Are you applying for a job or uni course or something else?

I have my PS from the PGCE application if that would be any help?

Teaching job - been at the same school for 6 years but am guaranteed an interview at my sons school so feel my letter etc needs to be more than brilliant and seem to be repeating myself at lot!

Do you have to do both? Is there an application form, or is the personal statement bit part of that?

I would probably use the covering letter to focus on the skills you have for the job, training , experience. The personal statement - what your out of school interests are, hobbies, unrelated qualifications and experience.

Does that make sense?

i think the statement must address the person specification, the covering letter can witter on about job description why you would love to work there.

Thats what I thought fishie. Had forgotten how hard they are to write though. been at the personal statement for 2 hours now so hopefully once thats done the covering letter will be easier.
