Hi all, just asking for a bit of reassurance/ support/ answers. My son just turned 5, he's in reception.
Phonics phase 1&2 are ok now. He's not taken to phonics amazingly but gets by ok. They did another knowledge test for phase 3. 40 letters/words/tricky words and he got 10 of them but pretty much all from phase 2.
We've been reading the books they've been given us (phase 2) but not been doing phonics individually. They've moved onto 2 letter sounds and 3 letter sounds. I know he's on the intervention table so I now started going through it with him and he pretty much knows none of them despite having started after Christmas.
I've printed a lot of stuff now to support him but he does find it hard to retain all the new information.
He's happy, he's got so many pros about him, he's a pro sharer, he cares about other people, claps loud for others and his brother, he's really good at drawing, good boy but struggles with the academics at school but I always think: he's so small still.
