Hi All - we are currently thinking about CJS. We really like the School. The commute however would be 45m for DC. Any thoughts?

I think it depends on how academic and hard-working you think your child is. Both CLS and CLSG are highly academic secondary schools, so while CJS allows you to avoid the 11+ in a sense, if those schools are not a great match for your child, then you’ll probably end up either (1) wanting to move schools anyway and the long commute when they’re young will have been for nothing or (2) dealing with a struggling child who still has a long commute.

Furthermore, if your child is academic, are there closer secondary schools to where you are now that you’d prefer when they’re older? The school itself has pretty limited facilities and is a fairly long commute for most families, so (my opinion at least is that) it is really for those who think CLS or CLSG would be the right school for their child later on.
