Does anyone have any experience of this school. We have short listed Edgeborough and visited Amesbury. I have only just come across St Edmunds via google search. It’s for a boy sporty and above average academics. Please share any thoughts and suggestions.

It depends on what you think you want for a senior school. The two you mention are largely aiming for moving to a senior school at 13+ with preparation for the ISEB pre test in year 6 and some exam prep for other 11+ applications. Both have expertise in helping you decide on appropriate senior schools for your child. St Edmunds has its own senior school so I'm not sure how much they would assist in discussing other senior school options or prepping for entrance exams.

@MigAndMog Many thanks for your comments, My concern with Edgeborough is that it’s now part of charterhouse so not sure how they will continue to support alternative school schools post 13. In terms of the vibe Amesbury looks very very informal so don’t know the level of academic and sporting ability there. Do you happen to know how the 3 school’s perform? All there websites sound wonderful.

Hello, I wondered if you had made a decision on schools yet? We are looking at Amesbury and Churcher’s, but the latter, like Edgeborough, is linked to a senior school so more restrictive when it comes to that time. Edgeborough is probably too far for us. Amesbury seems like a good all rounded (academic and sporty), very friendly school which appeals, plus it has a nursery too for our youngest. We looked at H&B but it wasn’t for us.

Hi JB, we decided on Amesbury and our child started straight after february half term. My only criticism is that he comes home scraffy from sports with a Huge Smile on his face. I really can’t fault it. Visited all the schools you mentioned. Go for it

That’s brilliant! Thank you so much for letting me know. It’s looking like our first choice too and we’re going to look around it again soon.
