Where can I find out what children in Y1 are expected to achieve during the year please? Interested across the board but partic. in numeracy. Is there anywhere that will give specific examples of what they should be able to do? Have looked on DFES site but can't find anything.

Here is a general link, but I'll try and look for some specific examples.

I also recommend these books for all subjects. They're easy for kids to use, offer lots of repetition and give useful hints and tips!

By the end of Y1 children should be able to
Count at least 20 everyday objects.
Count forwards and backwards in ones, starting from a small number.
Count forwards and backwards in tens (zero, ten, twenty, thirty?)
Read and write numbers to at least 20.
Put the numbers 0 to 20 in order.
Use the words first, second, third...
Given a number from 10 to 20, say the number that is 1 more, 1 less, 10 more, 10 less.
Use the words add, sum, total, take away, subtract, difference between? in practical situations.
Know by heart all pairs of numbers that make 10,
e.g. 3 + 7, 8 + 2.
Add and subtract two numbers under 10.
Compare two objects or containers, and say which is longer or shorter, or heavier or lighter, or which holds more.
Name and describe simple flat and solid shapes, e.g. It's got 3 corners.
