Aibu 2 hour walk in winter

Have been given a consent form to sign for a 2 hour geography walk around the local area. My aibu is that it is a 2 hour walk in the cold with no provision for a toilet break. It is for year 2's but still feel this is quite a long time for children with small bladders.

YABU, assuming no specific needs, the average year 2 is more than capable of going 2 hours without a toilet break! I’m sure the teachers will send them all to the loo beforehand.

YABU it sounds like a great trip

6/7 year olds? They will go to the toilet beforehand and will be fine for 2 hours. Make sure your child has a winter coat, hat and gloves and they will be warm enough.

SmallestInTheClass · 20/01/2024 18:56

YABU this sounds perfectly normal. Wrap them up warm and I hope your DC enjoys it.

YABU. Two hours is fine. Just make sure they have enough warm clothes on. The need for a toilet break wouldn’t even cross my mind! They’re in year 2, not toddlers.

@NewYearNewCalendar thanks there was an incident recently where my child didn't make it to the toilet in time after a litter picking session that lasted for around 30 minutes which has made me a little nervous. They made the teacher aware at the time that they needed the toilet but were told that they had an opportunity to go at lunch time and would have to wait. They did actually go at lunch time but still needed to go again and I would be reluctant for them to have to experience this again.

Don't know why everyone is so blooming obsessed with walks. Mind you if it's for kids and it's educational with exercise then its a bit different.

Sera1989 · 20/01/2024 19:26

Is it normal for your child to not be able to hold their bladder for 30 mins? Do they have a medical condition? If yes to either of these I would probably mention something to the teacher

Haribo16 · 20/01/2024 19:55

@Sera1989 no never had a problem previously hopefully after chatting about it with them and stressing the importance of going to the toilet before the walk all will be ok.
