Hi ladies, thank you for your replies. I have a school in mind and called them today. My partners children all went there and thrived, they all started there at various stages as were new to the area.
My DS has been getting bullied since year 3. It is the same child, a girl in his class, she has hit, kicked, pushed him over, had him in a headlock and lots of other physical attacks. If he so much as pushes her off, to defend himself, he is punished the same as her, usually detention. If he does not retaliate (he rarely does) she is given a punishment but it is not carried out. The school keep telling me that she has issues at home and that they have to be seem to be inclusive of all children. I could write a book on what had happened but he is really not wanting to go in anymore. He is becoming sad and snappy. I've tried and better tried to resolved with the school to no avail. Before Christmas break, he was in front of her in a queue to go into school, she kicked him and hit him.
I have completed a transfer form today after speaking to the other school. They've invited us to go in and have a look around during school time.
The transfer form asked me to outline my reasons for transfer, and me being me, I felt awful but I had to outline that it was due to bullying and the impact this is having on my DS. I also had to state what I had tried to do to resolve issues. Apparently the head reads this, puts on her comment re transfer and then sends it back to the local authority. I'm kind of annoyed that she can see what I've written but I am not able to see what she has said on the matter.
Anyway, I guess I'm just worried re by son starting a new school so late in primary but the new school have assured me he would be buddied with another child etc and that they absolutely do not tolerate bullying. As I said, my partners children all attended and he said its a fantastic school, much smaller than our current school and caring.
There have been many other issues but the bullying has been the tip of the iceberg and I've probably written too much already lol.
Its great to hear some positive comments and that your children got on great xx
