Feedback ACS Cobham, American School and Tasis

Hello - family moving over from the states and looking at schools for the children. Will have ranging from early elementary to late middle school. Would like them all in same school. Only looking at international schools. Does anyone have any experience with ACS Cobham? Beautiful grounds and sports facilities but I would love to hear about academics. Especially for middle and high school. Are kids pushed and learning? Good results for US universities? Also comparing to ASL and Tasis. I’ve heard ASL has had some issues past few years but would love any feedback, direction. My eldest is very bright and needs to be challenged, but I can’t socially put her in a British school. Please help!!

No experience of these schools but why can’t your eldest go to a British school for social reasons?

We have teenagers here too, they are quite normal, and are heading to US universities in increasing numbers (if that’s your main goal).

Hi of course they can but our preference is to keep them in an international school setting that will resemble the schools they currently attend in the states and also want to keep everyone in same school together k-8. So just trying to hear more information about AcS Cobham, ASL and Tasis.

@Aca2138 , re ACS Cobham, I only know U.K. dc there who needed to move out of the normal uk system for various reasons. Try posting on a Facebook group like Cobham Mummies.

OP - I attended one of these schools and to be honest they are much more mixed in quality compared to the British schools with international character. Hence why we are sending both our DCs to British independent schools rather than international. If you are only coming for 2-3 years I can understand, but any longer and a good British school is better. If you insist on these then I'd say it depends on where you want to live, but recommend Cobham or TASIS all things being equal.

@Aca2138 What did you decide in the end?

TreeHugger67 · 19/03/2025 14:36

Any updated information on ACS Cobham? How is TASIS for a day student versus boarder? Planning our move from CA to London, school placement is a primary consideration. Any information on North London schools, Southbank, Halcyon? Etc? Open to IB. Thx
