Kings college Wimbledon Activity session

DS has cleared kings 7+ written exam and the next round of admission process is Activity session followed by interview
Any one has any idea on activity session please and any pointers for help/ prep for the same .

When John Evans was head of the Junior school, the "activity session" was unpublicised and unexpected. The tests finished half an hour early snd he got out board games, told the boys to amuse themselves and sat back and watched them play and socialise. If they got through that they were invited to interview.

It was still quite competitive even 20 or so years ago. Not sure if it's quite such a lovely and nurturing school as it was.

We got the activity and interview call too.. but sadly we got to know today that DS didnot clear the final assessments. The activity and interview seemed quite ok and not that stressful. Dont know what the criteria is to qualify

I still think that they will look to take the boys that did the best in the written tests, I think the activity sessions are there to ween out any arrogant / difficult boys possibly....so it could be your DS was perhaps ranked in the 50-100 as opposed to the top 50? Well done to your DS for getting that far, out of the boys who applied where my DS is, none got called back to the interview stage!

Thanks @Caps1974 .. that is quite possible as getting eliminated at activity or interview round seemed quite unlikely as DS is not shy and was happy about how the final rounds went.

We're in the same boat, my DS was quite happy about stage 2 KCS (but rejected) so I was puzzled what criteria they had for stage 2 and why they would have taken through so many boys to stage 2...

All of the schools take double through to the next round, but I would assume the top 30 are probably safe as they want to keep the brightest. I would imagine it's unlikely and rare for someone to be 100th and get through. Stage 1 is the key part.

@Pbhar @nightowl35 did you get an email of rejection or "in reserve list"

We received an email that my DS is in Reserve list and there are chances until Aug 24 depending on availability. Does anyone know the chances of confirmation from reserve list to the confirmed seat ?

@day80 we got an email of rejection. So no hope for us at all. Making it to the reserve list is also big achievement . Heartiest congratulations to you for that. I think you have a fair chance.

That is quite harsh :( giving hopes when they know there is no chance! We're so exhausted that we will probably wait 4 yrs until the 11+..
