Homework - How much to help?

Firstborn is now in year 1 and has started getting homework.

One of the things he is set is Maths Homework on a device, essentially 20 questions that he needs to work out, its all electronic (bleugh) so it on the tablet.

Now of course its targeted at the right level and by and large he can figure them out with little more than a few prompts.

The OH and I however a bit of a difference of opinion on what help and support we should give when he gets one wrong.

For example last week he had to count the apples and should have got 20, however he miscounted and got 23. OH made him go back and count again so he got 20/20 each week. Im more than happy for him to get some wrong if he has genuinely got them wrong.

What's your thoughts

In an ideal world I review their homework and go over mistakes with them, and get them to correct their own work. There is no chance the teacher will review or mark homework in y1, so otherwise there would be no feedback. Most of our homework is written, so pretty straightforward and quick to do, and wouldn’t mean redoing it all. When your husband does it, do they have to go back through them all to get a perfect score on the app? if so, that does feel a bit unsustainable, but equally I wouldn’t leave a mistake without at least discussing how to get the right answer.

I would let them get the wrong answer (unless it was typing mistake - typed 6, but meant to type 7 on the computer or something).
Then at the end I'd go over what the right answer is. If they get a huge amount wrong, then I'd do the homework again but with more support - or sometimes the website has a 'lesson' you can do to review the content.
