School Photos

Does anyone know if schools get paid or have to pay for photographer to come to school?
New provider this year & photos are awful - my child looks like an oompa lumpa in one of those mirrors that squish you up in the middle various other issues on whatsapp group.
Just wondering if it is worth asking for normal provider to come back. (Obvs not if it costs school money)
It's a shame coz I have photos from every year for dd1 so wanted to do the same for dd2 and I'd be better with my phone.

Find a nice backdrop stick them in their uniform and take a photo. I've never understood buying school photos except maybe the whole class one.

The school will earn commission on sales. Different photography companies offer different rates of commission. If enough parents complain they might consider getting the old people back for next year.

Schools need photos of students for their records/seat plans etc, so selling them to the parents is an added bonus (if the photos are nice).

The company both the primary and secondary use are frankly s*. I could take better. Basically they used to adbvise kids to smile without teeth showing.
Class photos especially awful.
You get like 19% kids looking ok. The teacher takes a better photo.

All you can do is complain to school and request that they don’t use them again.
Sometimes the kids just don’t photograph well. One of mine often looks silly in photos. She gets self-conscious and doesn’t know what to do with her face.

The teacher takes them for classroom photos.
Last year DD and all her school mates were photographed slightly askew. It was laughable.
This year her hair was a bit spiky that day and there is a virtual background so that looks bizarre.
