Dear All,

We are moving to Beaconsfield in next 2-3 months . Our daughter is in Year 3 and we will want an In Year admission.

We wanted to get you opinion on St Mary's COE as the latest ofsted rating isnt great . Other option is Butler school.

We will be staying close to old town .

Please can you share your opinion about both schools and if any recommendations ?

@settleforgood Have you asked if they have a vacancy? Bucks CC maintains a list. Village schools are more sought after.

At Mary’s has vacancies for y3, Butlers Court, no. 18 Sept.

I would see which schools have spaces and go from there

Couldashouldawoulda · 26/09/2023 08:25

Both good schools, OP. Either will be fine if they have space. Visit them and see which you prefer.

Butlers Court doesn’t have a space at present. Look if other schools have spaces you might like.

Thankyou All. We are checking with St Mary's . Just wasnt confident as their last ofsted was shwoing need improvement.

They have come back and said , they have one space and we need to confirm space in 6 weeks but we are only moving in January. So maybe have to try luck again :(

Can the space again become available after Oct half term or before January ?

@settleforgood I’m not entirely sure that’s legal. If another child requests a place in y3, and can start immediately, the place must be offered to them and not you. They cannot, I believe, keep a space open for you for 6 weeks. @admission might know.,You still might find spaces available when dc can start.
