Is this insensitive to ask?

DD attends a 2 form primary school and is in Y1.

This year she has a job share with one teacher teaching Mon/Tues/Weds and the other on a Thurs/Fri.

The teacher who teaches the class on a Thursday and Friday has only taught them once, which was the 1st Thursday of the 1st week back.

DD says that they've been taught by the TA who just screams and shouts for the past couple of weeks. Today they had a Y2 teacher covering and who knows for tomorrow. From what staff have said that the teacher is off sick and they don't know when she will be back, I am beginning to think this may be for a period of time.

The other Y1 class have had continuity with their job share. DD's class have not had their homework marked, reading books changed or even been listened to reading.

Would I be overstepping the mark if I were to email the HT and just ask what the actual teaching arrangements will be if this is a long-term absence and who we should be directing any concerns of queries to?

A school can't comment on the absence of a member of staff to a parent but you could direct your comments re unmarked work etc to the Mon-Wed teacher.

I'm not asking for reason of absence, but I would like to know who will be teaching the class if the absence is ongoing. The last 2 weeks they've had a TA who apparently "shouts a lot" and today a Y2 teacher.

I would not hesitate for a moment and asked when is the expected return of the previous teacher. Oh yes, I would describe the shouting TA, by all means.

Why would it be insensitive? And who cares if it is?

Your only concern should be your daughter’s education. I would be raising hell.
