What sort of school for a child with adhd? (Hyperactive, impulsive)

Ds has adhd and school doesn’t seem to burn enough of his energy! He comes out still bursting with energy every day. It turns a lot into hitting his brother and generally being like a coiled spring. Every evening we do something active to use it up, which is kind of exhausting for me after work! And for his brother, who actually needs a bit of downtime.

But I’m starting to wonder if we should send him to a more outdoorsy / active school?

What kind of environment suits a child with lots and lots of energy and adhd?

New to looking into all this!

  1. The school with strong SEN department. Check how many SEN kids they have and how effectively they manage the department
  1. The school with strong sports department. Check what are after school clubs. If there are many in sports, that may be the place. Also, check in the shop where they sell school uniforms. Often schools with strong sports have more elaborate sport uniforms. I would recommend signing him up for 🏉 rugby and football... Anything where you run run...

A school with a before-school sports club or mile run club. Quite a few schools offer this. The running a mile thing has been proven to help with focus etc.
