Settling In Day

My DT’s (4) had their settling in day today at their new school. They currently go to a school nursery but are changing schools for their primary place.

it’s so nerve wracking, one of my girls is very nervous and found some of it very difficult. My other girl is super confident and got stuck straight in.

has anyone else had theirs this week and if so how did you get on?

My DD has hers next week. We've had a stay and play session for an hour or so already which went well although she took a while to get stuck in as i think the size of the space was a little overwhelming. She does have 6 others from nursery joining her at school though, so hoping her transition next next week goes well, but still really nervous about it. Sadly i have to work so can't do drop off or pick up, so DH is doing it, but think that might work to my DD's advantage as he is less nervous about the whole thing!

I can remember taking my DD and being so nervous because she used to be so shy! She never really liked nursery and always cried at drop off!!

She loved school from pretty much day one! She's in year 3 now and thriving.

I'm sure your DTs will have a great day.

I think settling in days are a double edged sword. One of my DC hated theirs too and I just think it added worry about starting properly to the summer holidays. He was absolutely fine once he started properly in September.
