Could anyone shed some light upon the structure of these assessments? My dd will be going through them in the next year and I’m more curious than anything as to what they entail / how they assess essentially toddlers haha. What are the qualities/skills that they look out for? Also, is there a parent interview for these schools?

Sorry if this has been posted before; I tried to find some info but could only find stuff about the North London ones. Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to bump this in case anyone can shed light!

(and just to make it abundantly clear, I’m certainly not planning on “preparing” my toddler for these - I don’t believe that is possible. I’m just curious because it frankly seems futile to assess children that young in a short period.)

The other kids will be prepared, in some cases for over a year at places like Clown's which devote massive amounts of time to preparation for these assessments. If you put 4+ 7+ into the search box you'll find loads of old threads.

@mycoffeecup She is in preschool at one of the many nurseries in the area that sends children to these schools, so I suppose she is being prepared in a way! I more meant that we aren’t planning on doing anything at home, aside the organic learning through play/life that we already do. Apologies for not making that clear!

and thanks for sending that link over - I’d looked through some of them previously and primarily found info on the North London schools/processes, but I’ll check out that particular one you send over. In general, are the Central/West London assessment processes similar to those at the North London schools?

oh fine - if you're sending her somewhere that 'does' the 4+ then she's already being intensively prepared. Sorry don't have specific W London experience.

Hello,
Bringing this thread up again - has anyone had any luck moving off the waitlist at Glendower, Ken Prep, Garden House or Falkner House this year?
it seems to be a tough year for 4+ entries across the board.

NcOpen · 14/06/2024 12:47

I have friends at Falkner and don’t think they went to the waitlist list this year at all. There is only one form and extremely selective so very tough to get in.

I know a couple of people who declined Glendower - unsure if waitlist moved though.

N0tting · 14/06/2024 17:50

Thank you @NcOpen ; Do you know from your friends whether there is ever any intra year movement occurring at these schools? Ie Siblings deciding they are better suited elsewhere / families relocating etc?

NcOpen · 14/06/2024 19:32

Yes there will be families that will end up relocating or moving due to various reasons (numbers would vary year on year though but the schools are quite international). It’s worth contacting the schools if you are after an occasional place.

Usually there is a bit of movement for year 3 as some children end up at Bute (less so at Falkner compared to the other 3) Are you on the waiting list for the schools or looking at joining for other years?
