To 7+ or not to 7+

Hi, for those of you who have successfully and relatively stress freely navigated the 7+ process, can you give us an idea of where your 5 years old were (at end of reception) in terms of their maths and reading. I’m trying to gauge whether the journey is worthwhile for us. We would be moving countries so currently DS is at an international british school, very different from a pre prep however he is top of his class which makes us wonder whether once back we do the 7+ route.

just to add location wise we would be looking at Latymer or SPJ

For SPJ in particular you will be competing against boys who have been tutored very heavily for a couple of years at least, being bright may not be enough! Latymer will be a bit easier but still very competitive as one of the few Co-Ed 7+ entries.
It's a good idea to have some other options and then you could try 11plus.
