Taking 4 year old on a 2 week holiday

My son starts school in September , we are thinking to take him to visit our family next June for 2 weeks. We’re aware of the £60 fine for each parent. Is taking a 4 year old in reception really frowned upon? I’d understand if he’s studying towards 11+ or gcse’s but I doubt he’ll be missing out on too much.

I understand they can't fine you until the child is of compulsory school age (term after they turn five). We did this when DC1 was in Reception, partly because we got the term dates wrong! It was absolutely fine (and we didn't get fined).
