Gayhurst or St Mary’s

Hello,

We’re considering both Gayhurst and St Mary’s in GX for our dd. Does anyone have any thoughts about the pros and cons of these schools? We’re looking for a school that will support our dd with dyslexia. They both seem great but it would be good to have some opinions from current parents.

I'm a current parent of 1 and soon to be 2 daughters at Gayhurst. In my opinion it's a wonderfully caring and nurturing school with a family atmosphere. My daughter absolutely loves it and so do we, it has such a sense of community. Academic wise, standards are high with brilliant subject specialist teaching where differentiation in learning is provided. Whilst I don't have specific experience related to the Dyslexia support, I know of some parents that do and are happy. The HOD for SENDco is very approachable, works in partnership with the parents and has great connections with specialist outside support. I hope that helps :-)

Hi,

Currently my daughter attends William Patten (nursery) in Stoke Newington and next year will start reception. Unfortunately as we have moved she will not continue there. I have Gayhurst Community School on my list as a potential but I still couldn’t find any other good schools in the area. Similar to William Patten. Could anyone help me? (Hoxton/Shoreditch/Haggerston)
