Primary with Boarding

Just out of sheer curiosity...
Does anybody know how many primary boarding schools are in UK?

I have found that the total percentage of boarding schools is 0.7 as compared to the rest. And mostly they are serving foreign kids. I wonder how many are at a primary level...-?

Well Google seems to suggest that no-on (in the UK) offers boarding below 7. Most will be styled as preps, so not necessarily the recognisable ‘primary’ structure.

One of the school search sites throws up 78 results for schools which offer boarding for ages 7-11, however even just clicking into a couple of the first results, a few only offer it at Y5/Y6, and there’s quite a few references to military families.

It's very unusual for a prep to offer boarding below age of 8 (year 4) nowadays. There are also very few girls only stand alone full boarding prep schools left in the uk, Godstowe probably being the best known.

Boarding from Year 4 is quite common in the independent sector, and I understand there are two state boarding schools that offer boarding to primary school years. One of these is Wymondham College Prep School which starts boarding at year 5, and as a state school you only have to pay for the boarding provision, not the education itself.
