Private school- why SATS end of June?

Hello!

My son attends a small local indie.

I'm curious as to why he isn't sitting these exams this week; they are to be done at the end of June?

I know private schools don't have to do SATS; but why would they choose to do them over a month later?

Surely it's not the same papers as this week?

I have no answer to your query but GD is at private school and they are sitting the SATS this week. Bless her, she’s been revising as she ‘ wants to do her best’.

If it is a through to 18 school it could be because that is the exam period in school tying in with GCSE and A-level.
My DD always did her exams the week after half term in prep school and then two weeks after half term in senior school.

Are they the same Sats or pips/cats? How old is dc?

I guess they could be using the papers but not reporting or submitting them for proper marking. Are they just using them as internal exams?

SATS are taken this week because they are externally marked by teachers or paid markers all around the country. It takes time for them to be processed, scanned, marked, processed again and sent back.

Private schools usually internally mark their own papers. Hence no need for the delay. This allows them to do them later.

Unless they are giving themselves an extra 6 weeks of teaching so their scores look better?
