Best marker pen for name tagging clothes

I need advice on name labelling. My mum's in a nursing home and we have to name her clothes. We've been writing her name on with a sharpie but they wash out quickly. Has anyone found a pen that can safely go through the laundry and last a bit longer? The home washes everything on at least 40° so the ink stamp I found on Amazon won't quite cut it.

I use a biro pen - so far, it’s never washed out.

Try stamptastic stamp or stickins stickers.

I use a biro, washes out after maybe 10 to 12 washes but I don't mind as I plan to use the clothes for my youngest as well one day.

You can actually buy specific Sharpie-brand laundry markers. I have one at school for labelling clothes.

My son is going to school shortly and I’d like to know if name stamps or iron on labels are best for naming his clothes. Any brands and recommendations for those that last would be appreciated.

Preprinted labels from Stikins! Just stick them on the clothes' labels. Also to shoes, bags, anything. They are impervious to washing machines, tumble dryers and the general antics of toddlers.

PaniniHead · 02/05/2023 20:50

I use Stickins as well. Never had a problem with them coming off either

Definitely stickers. I use Easy2name.

Pen NEVER lasts (I’m a teacher - I see a lot of unlabelled stuff).

Mynametags.com, stickers and multiple washes at 40. Different colours and designs to personalise. Nothing like a sea of black and navy to find item.

I second the my name tags. They go through the wash and are easy to stick on. New customers can usually get a small discount on the first order.

I wen through this with elderly mil when she went into residential care, and in the end ordered sew on name labels as nothing else lasted and her clothes kept going missing.

I have used MyNametag stick ons. They always last us a very, very long time before they start to wear off and even then they still last ages.

I swear by Petit Fernand stickers. I used them on all of my daughter's school uniform and they're still on there from September. Best ones we have used.

I bought woven sew on name labels and sewed them in for both my parents. They kept everything but a few pairs of underpants from going missing, and those couldn’t behaved. It’s not cheap, but saves much more in the long run.
