Burgess Hill schools

We are looking to move to BH/surrounds but dismayed that most primaries are now rated as requiring improvement.

We have young kids so looking for a family friendly area with good public transport.

Any locals with insight into the school situation? What's behaviour like? Is this an OFSTED ploy to get the schools to be turned over to academies or are they just bad at the moment?

Particularly interested in Gattons Infants and St Wilfirds.

Both of those schools are lovely in my opinion. Obviously St Wilfrid’s is catholic so that’s an element to consider.
the only thing you can do is go and see them and see if they suit your child. I tend to read ofsted with a pinch of salt and use it as a very small slither of evidence in a whole cake. More like crumbs…

I taught at Southway Juniors, which is the feeder junior school from Gattons. I have very fond memories of my time there: good behaviour generally and in my opinion one of the better schools I have taught in. I would take Ofsted with a pinch of salt. I'd ask on the local FB community pages for personal opinions. St Wilfreds - will feed into St Pauls, which is one of the best state secondaries so worth considering.

Thanks, good to know.

Unfortunately just heard from the admissions team that there are no places in any BH primaries except.for the terrible London Meeds. I suppose if we lived next door to a school we might have a chance with waiting list.

As always with schools, go and see it. There are plenty of children thriving at LM.

How old is their Ofsted? Go and visit and see for yourself. You will know either way after a visit.
