And it’s already intense. We only found out yesterday. God help us all.

How do they find each other to join a WhatsApp group already?

Meandfour · 18/04/2023 11:29

How do they know the parents and their numbers?

elliejjtiny · 18/04/2023 11:33

I'm not on WhatsApp, it would drive me mad. I was on a Facebook group for dc3's class briefly but there were too many arguments so I ditched it.

MrsCremuel · 18/04/2023 11:35

From the nursery (there is also a WhatsApp group) lot of people from there are going to this school and then they add people they know from elsewhere etc and it grows. I sort of feel we are setting out our stalls already. Trying to plan my approach - I’m thinking I’ll throw in the odd titbit to keep up but not really get involved in anything.

I'd be staying on it just to watch the arguements play out

Tarantullah · 18/04/2023 11:37

We have one too but no one has said anything yet on it...

Circleoffifths · 18/04/2023 11:38

Setting out stalls? Crikey - that’s intense. Only 7 years to go 🤣

Arguments 🤣🤣 my God

TallulahBetty · 18/04/2023 11:40

Suggest a FB group instead - much less chaotic and stressful.

Ollifer · 18/04/2023 11:42

We hardly have anything on ours it's fairly quiet just the odd question about non uniform days or trips, certainly no arguments or dramas or anything, so they aren't all like that op

fruitbrewhaha · 18/04/2023 11:43

I'm presuming you're not in the UK.

We have a class whapsapp. It' really useful. Already we've had a reminder that yesterday was forest school so not to wear uniform and an enquiry if after school sports is on. We help each other out as there is so much to remember and so many emails from the school it's easy to miss something.

hopeishere · 18/04/2023 11:44

How on earth are people setting out stalls?

Ours only had minor drama the very end about the end of term leavers event!

fruitbrewhaha · 18/04/2023 11:44

There are definitely no arguments or drama. How odd.

Why would you assume someone is not in the UK because they don't have a class Whatsapp group? I am in my 15th and final year as a primary school parent and have never had any kind of class group.

BaconMassive · 18/04/2023 11:47

Has anyone mentioned leavers hoodies yet?

Aintnosupermum · 18/04/2023 11:48

Oh yeah up there with avoiding the PTA is silencing the WhatsApp. Join and ‘lurk’ but in reality hide.

SophiaSW1 · 18/04/2023 11:50

That are handy so you know who the batshit parents are.

FlowerTink · 18/04/2023 11:51

I have a child in Juniors and I'm still on one! I just lurk in the background and avoid any drama

StraightOuttaContext · 18/04/2023 11:53

We have one that was started similarly. It's been really useful this year so far, and there have been some laughs too (good natured and at our own expense). Even if someone asks a potentially contentious question, the replies have been respectful and helpful. No drama or weirdness as yet, gladly.

PurpleParrotfish · 18/04/2023 11:53

Drama? Ours just has PTA fundraising messages, and occasional stuff like ‘don’t forget PE kit for the extra lesson today’, ‘booking’s now open for the local kids fun run’, ‘the road’s closed outside school’.
Serious lack of drama. Should I complain?

philautia · 18/04/2023 12:03

It's worth it sometimes, but we have to stick to an acceptable usage agreement (upwards of 15 points which are expanded on every year following various incidents relating to said groups).

The person who is the owner is also a member of the PTA and gets everything wrong as is "so busy" so I never rely on her reminders for dates of events, but it is quite hilarious to note the various character types for entertainment purposes.

Goodoccasionallypoor · 18/04/2023 12:09

Why would anyone be arguing?

I'm assuming it's for a reception class?

Guineapigwoes · 18/04/2023 12:11

Just mute it. Ours is fine tbf just the odd question about inset days and bake sales

From UK too. Never joined any groups and I NEVER will!
