Does anyone have any experience of Queen's Gate Junior School? I'm thinking of sending my daughter there. I saw on their social media accounts they are actively advertising spaces in their Year 5 and Year 6 classes. Does this suggest there might be a problem with the school? Why would they have so much space? Are they likely to close down? Any thoughts positive or negative would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Their ad popped up on my FB timeline too.

I get ads for most of the London prep schools on Facebook etc. very normal for schools to market that way nowadays.

I doubt queens gate is anywhere near closing. It's quite a popular school. Even if classes are not 100% full it always has fairly decent numbers. It's been around for a long time and I think will be well funded. I wouldn't worry!

It has a good rep as a less academic but very supportive school. Amazing location. Friends with dds there are happy. We ruled it out on the academics as did preferred Francis Holland on the shortlist which is roughly a similar level.

My DD was there for all the junior school years. We loved it. I don’t know why they don’t have as strong a reputation as the other junior schools in the area, but their exit results are excellent. The girls who don’t want to stay for QG senior school end up at the likes of Godolphin and Latymer, Latymer Upper, Putney High, both Francis Holland, Emanuel, JAGS, City, Wycombe Abbey etc. My daughter got offers from several such of schools after 11+ (she opted for FH). Most importantly, the school is very warm. Since it’s so small, the girls and staff know each other very well. The head and the teachers are very approachable and work with parents closely when needed. We had a bereavement when DD was in year 4 and they proactively reached out with professional help for both her and us. Lots of good extra curriculars. I really recommend it. I feel like it’s a well kept secret. The senior school destinations are also good, btw.
