Handwriting y3

Just had a parents evening for DS who is a young y3 - July birthday. Overall he is doing great academically, but his handwriting is an issue. We looked through his books and the teacher is absolutely right - his writing is still quite big and spidery, for want of a better word.
The teacher is going to look into some interventions but we would also like to help at home. Has anybody had any success with particular resources or books?

Not an expert and your son may be too old for this but an you spend some times working on fine motor skills?

So games involving picking up small objects with tweezers/pincers, threading, colouring etc Loom band making

I may be wrong but I imagine it's harder to get a boy to do these things and someone else may be able to suggest more activities. But these activities help to strengthen hands and wrists meaning his writing might get neater and more precise.

You can of course get handwriting practice books or do practise letters /sentences everyday but he may tire of this after a day of school.
