Falcons Prep Richmond - closing

Hi, any parents at Falcons Prep right now? I have so many questions like - What happened?
What is your plan for next September? Will your children transfer to Radnor Prep when they take over your building?

Considering that Radnor Prep is using the Falcons building for at least the next school year, how are the facilities there?

Also following. I noticed on another thread that Redcliffe Gardens is closing too.

Is this just the boys one? I was looking a bit at the girls school. What a shame for all those kids, I hope there are good alternative options.

Is one taking over the other?

redrobin75 · 21/03/2023 20:45

@Marchsnowstorms , do you mean is Radnor taking over Falcons Boys? The answer is no, Radnor has had it's a senior school move to whitton, Kneller hall, delayed for year(s) so needed a site for their new prep as the seniors is staying at its current site in twickenham. But Radnor and Falcons are owned by 2 of the more ruthless education groups - Alpha and Dukes - maybe in the long term the owners might be open to a take over etc.

Argh ok makes sense. I read it as one school closing & other moving in

rgrebecccccc · 21/03/2023 20:53

I mean, is sort of. Falcons is closing and vacating the premises. Radnor is moving their new prep into the building for at least 1 year. After the new Radnor prep moves back to Twickenham in 1+ years, Dukes Education will do, who knows, with the Falcons building.

Falcons Prep is closing due to low numbers and Radnor moving in as a completely separate school. They bought the building from APG. However, the building is horrible - barely any natural light and one long corridor!! Facilities wise, the outdoor space is rather limited, they do have access to an ‘Astro’ across the road but it’s not particularly nice.

We looked at the school for T and rr very impressed with staff and the push for outdoor learning but were put off with the building and lack of windows tbh

WL82 · 05/04/2023 15:46

Why does the school have low numbers? It seems to be a good school and yet it can’t be very popular. What will likely happen to the children in the Falcons pre prep school does anyone know?

I have no idea how or why this has happened but having looked at schools in this area, I was really taken with Orley Farm in Harrow, it offers proper outdoor education and with 500 girls and boys, it's established. If parents are looking for a change, I'd recommend it - my daughter just left and loved it!
