Hello
I live in the Hertfordshire area and looking between berkhamsted private pre prep at 4 or a more academic option like the Habs girls

Does anyone have any experience of either ?

Hi - yes I went to habs and with my own kids moved to berko. Very different schools. Habs is very academic from day one - I hear that to get in at 4 you have to count to 100. It has a much wider catchment and feels more London and academic. If your not academic yiu get forgotten about a bit (maybe my preconception from my time). Habs is also miles from anywhere not particularly community focused. Berko is not as academic - still selective but their USP is the grounds and pastoral side. Like habs it’s marmite it’s more semi rural English boarding type of school - lots of sports and outdoor play probably less pressure academically. VERY community focused both I and out of school IMO that’s major difference. Hope it helps

BS that at 4+ you have to count to 100.
