I'm looking for schools within walking distance of my house and this one showed up online. I don't know much about it. Please can anyone with experience of the school comment on it currently? Before anyone comments in typical Mumsnet style, yes obviously I will make an appointment for a tour but I would like to hear from Mums with children at the school first! Thanks!

Bumping as I'd love to know too!

Redcliffe Gardens school just announced it is closing today -
Cameron Vale school is the nearest, although Redcliffe is pushing their parents toward the private equity owned Hampshire School (who are presumably paying them for each pupil who signs up).

I expect there will be a rush to Cameron Vale and those that don't get in will go to the Hampshire.

Oh wow! How did you hear this? When do they close - after Easter or July?

July - they gave parents one terms notice.

A letter from Chair of the school was sent yesterday.

Wow

Planet3 · 21/03/2023 10:02

I’m sorry for all the parents and children there. What explanation did they give?

Dodgeitornot · 21/03/2023 10:43

@Planet3 I'm curious too. I thought it was quite popular. How stressful for those parents. I'd be so angry if I had just chosen it for reception.

It was always Godolphin and Latymer’s intention to close Redcliffe School. They had to keep it open for a specific period of time which has now ended. A rather strategic deal which has caused disruption for many staff members too. Now they get to enjoy the profits from the property sale…

Buru · 22/03/2023 17:28

@Planet3 @Dodgeitornot not much explanation, to be honest, except that the school doesn’t have the numbers it needs to stop making losses. It didn’t look good at the meeting. There is a separate thread on the subject now

@Twinkle4 is this something you know for sure or just a guess?

Twinkle4 · 22/03/2023 17:48

For sure

Twinkle4 is spot on with info. G&L have always had an agenda.
