Highgate 4+ Reserve List

Hi All, my DD has been offered a place on the reserve list at Highgate which I was initially positive about but as the days have gone on I’m starting to get increasingly worried this will remain just as a pipe dream for us.

Does anyone have any advice? Are you turning down your spot at Highgate? Do you know if the Highgate WL moves at all? They say it’s a short list but will they even get to it if they over offer to a huge degree? I’m just feeling totally overwhelmed and a bit anxious about it all!

Have you heard anything yet? Handhold. This whole process is very anxiety inducing!

FeelingAnxious248 · 03/02/2023 10:54

only the email they sent out last night saying offer holders have been slow to respond and there won't be any movement until Monday at the earliest.

Are you waiting on Highgate as well?

No I’m waiting on UCS for my DS. Have Highgate and City but UCS is our top choice. If it doesn’t work out we’ll almost certainly accept City and release the Highgate place (although that may not help you as you’ve got a DD, right? And they would offer a boy a spot to replace a boy?)
Sorry I only joined up to mumsnet this week to follow the results so I’m getting used to all the terminology!!

we have a 4+ reserve anyway, and i think maybe you're on the 7+ reserve for UCS? I do know that UCS moves but hoping it moves fast enough for you before you accept your other offers!

Sadly I’m going through both 4+ and 7+ simultaneously. Double the stress!!! I hope your DD ends up in the right school for her. I hope these things all turn out ok in the end (fingers crossed anyway!! )

FeelingAnxious248 · 03/02/2023 14:46

My goodness you're incredible! I'm breaking out in hives with just the 4+, my DS has a few years to go before we have to do this all over again and I'm already dreading it!

Are you waitlisted for your top schools for both 4 and 7?

Yes. Both UCS sadly. We just love the school all the way up and have heard nothing but good things. We have other great options for younger one, but preps and pre preps, so that then becomes a question about whether to go through this all over again at 7 or 11! Eesh.

moonbows · 03/02/2023 14:56

Hmmm. I went to see UCS for 11+ and thought I’d think twice if it was my local comprehensive! Horrendous kids and horrible atmosphere. Know 2 kids there - one v happy, the other (clever) just not stretched in any way.

FeelingAnxious248 · 03/02/2023 16:24

surprising to hear @moonbows , I've only heard very positive things from the families with sons there

@FeelingAnxious248 I came across this post and wondering if you got a place in Highgate at the end as I’m in the same situation now and wondering if we get a place 😩

FeelingAnxious248 · 25/01/2025 11:52

No she didn’t get a place, to be honest it’s complicated as they need the right number of girls to turn them down all born at the right time of year. Luck really plays a part.
