Your DS should probably be doing the bond papers for 9-10 years old by now. When we did it, we were doing a paper or two a day at max, rotating across the different formats. Best not to exert them too much with the exam just over a week away, so they are fresh, especially if they have sat some exams before Xmas. Remember they are only 6 or 7 and will have not been through this before and you shouldn't underestimate what this takes out of them. Reading was the one thing we kept up during the holidays. Good luck!

9-10? Really? Perhaps your son is a genius but I think 8-9 is fine (and quite far advanced)? x

7plusqueries · 31/12/2022 08:58

@taj0112 yes 9-10 sounds extreme...but is 8-9 the usual standard then...not sure how so many kids get to that level?

8-9 is fine - with focus on problem solving - PMC type problems - maybe not so advanced, but of the puzzle sort, also anagrams, word ladders.

7plusqueries · 01/01/2023 00:22

@FriendlyMom thanks - what is PMC pls

PMC = Primary Math Challenge. There are past problems on the website. It is a year 5-6 level math problems but the format is applicable to 7/8+ exams. The Bond puzzle book series for smart kids are a good alternative which stimulate problem solving and creative thinking.
