Mid-year entry (Reception or Y1) to Wetherby

If anyone has moved DS to Wetherby from less academic school some time in Reception or Y1, could you please share your experience?

I did not apply for Reception entry on time. Now I feel like my DS might be mature enough to sit 7+. I thought, If we can get a place, moving to Wetherby might be better option that tutoring.

The admission policy says "There may be a small assessment in mathematics, English, reasoning and reading depending on the boy’s age".
Does anyone know if they do assessments to admit mid-year in Reception class or Y1? Does the assessment help to establish if the boy will be ready to sit 7+ exams?

I know Wetherby is not selective at Reception so they will have boys who are not mature enough to prepare for 7+ exams.
Do they split boys into sets and teach differently those boys who are more advanced?
If not how do the less mature boys cope? Do they still feel happy in Wetherby or parents moves them to other schools?

Is Wetherby Kensington as good as Wetherby School? I could not find 7+/8+ leavers destinations for Wetherby Kensington.

My DS is going to be starting reception there from next year. However, I heard the headmaster is leaving next term. Have they announced where he is heading?

Thank you @8Plusmom . My DH was not keen on Wetherby. DS is summer born so I decided to wait and see if he matures enough to sit 7+.
