Hi mums, I can see this has been asked before but most of the posts seem dated and things do change with changing heads etc. please can I have some honest views about the two schools and also how difficult is it to get through Grimsdell?

Heya, I hope your research and interviews for the schools went well! It’s not an easy topic. Both schools are equally good. But just like in the state education, as a parent (no matter what your choice) you’re expected to be involved. We went to Grimsdell, she was reading by the end of reception and was given enough extra attention and push academically to be at least a year ahead to what we have seen in the state schooling (she was also the youngest in the class). What’s more important she loves the school and the playful approach to learning, hence is very keen to discover more and more and is not afraid to ask questions. Academic or not academic environment, the outcome depends very much on a child and support he/she gets from the parents and teachers equally. The most important aspect for us was to keep the the village and warmth feeling within the learning environment. They will always get exposed to academic environment, but if your child is happy and eager to learn the academics will follow. Follow your gut as a parent and do not read into the statistics too much. Good luck x
