Writing year 2

I've been asked by my my son’s teacher to practice his writing. He is in year 2. Could you please have a look and let me know if his writing looks fine for year 2 level? Any feedback would be really appreciated.

You could work on adding more creativity, using influences from books he has read to add more natural flair.

He needs to include description of the characters, not included ‘and then’ the after that was good!

That is more than fine for Y2, it’s really good. Especially at this stage in the year. The teacher needs to give you specific advice if you’re expected to work on it at home. The only thing I would want to do with that writing is get him not to join capitals and to practice joining Rs.

I teach year 2. It looks good! Some adjectives, similes and alliteration would make it even better! At this stage of the year I'd be quite happy with this

Thank you so much for all your feedback. I was quite surprised when he wrote this yesterday. I thought it was good but I'm not a teacher. We'll work together and try to combine all your advice in his next few writings. Also, I'll ask his teacher for specific advice regarding what exactly I should work on at home. Thank you 😊

Looks great to me and my DD is in year 2.

They have drilled in using adjectives especially 2 with a comma e.g. big, smelly. Also they are moving on to ? and !
